Hands On Rhythm and Drum School

Jill Sager is the author of the instructional DVD and Book: Beginning Hand Drumming: A Guide to Recreation and Wellness. She is a TOCA Percussion endorsed artist and Founder of Hands On Rhythm and Drum School based in Eugene Oregon.

Classically trained on piano, Jill studied music theory and voice at New York's High School of Music and Art, the inspiration for the 1980 movie "FAME". She earned her B.A. in Recreation and Leisure Studies and had a professional career in Therapeutic Recreation for 15 years.

Jill’s interest in hand drumming started in college and led to performances at a variety of venues including Vancouver Folks Festival. Her long time passion for conga drums culminated in a trip to Cuba in 2001.

It is this combination of rich skills, knowledge, and experience in music education, community recreation, therapeutic approaches, and hand drumming that brought her attention and earned invitations to over 150 non-profit agencies, businesses, schools, city organizations, and retreat centers.

Since 2000, Jill has helped thousands learn to express themselves on drums, from professional musicians to closet drummers. Today, it is her dedication to helping others find their rhythm that engages most of her time.
